reckless driving. all three drivers are expected to recover. maureen: the state department will not release 22 of hillary clinton's e-mails because they contain top secret information. department spokesman says the e-mails were not classified at the time they were sent. but were later upgraded as a request of the intelligence community. spokesman for former secretary of state clinton said that the designation is case of overclassification run amok. leon: virginia governor terry mcauliffe is calling it historic compromise on the gun laws in virginia. the parents of a journalist shot to death on live television say it puts others at risk. jeff goldberg is in richmond with the story. jeff: during a packed house press conference standing shoulder to shoulder with the republicans leaders, virginia governor terry mcauliffe unequically calling it a win for gun control advocates. >> what we announce today will make vassens safer. jeff: many advocates say the governor is wrong.

>> we were so disappointment. jeff: the agreement reached with the g.o.p. leaders reverses attorney general ruling last month to end reciprocity for the concealed carry permit for gun owners in 25 states with the standards considered weaker than virginia's. the new deal requires state police to attend gun show to conduct background check for private sellers who choose to screen buyers. the state will be able to take guns away from people with permanent protective orders for domestic violence crimes. family members of gun violence wrote a letter to the governor arguing the new plan supported by n.r.a. is weaker than the action on reciprocity. >> i urge you to reconsider the plan. so that you can continue to deserve the reputation as gun sense champion. >> i have to balance interests constantly. you have to compromise constantly. you do it in business, you do it in politic, you do it in life. >> i don't see this as a

stumbling point at all. >> josh owns the gun shop in falls church where the background checks are standard and supports state police to do checks for private sellers. >> it ensures the people that they are selling to aren't prohibited from owning firearm. jeff: this still needs approval from the general assembly before it's law. but the supporters and the opponents of the deal believe it will move forward. in richmond, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. leon: the deal with the governor delayed plan to end virginia's concealed carry permit res -- reciprocity. breaking news from northeast washington now. three people are hurt after a crash involving a car and an ambulance near the corner of j and 17th street northeast. the ambulance was rush the hospital to the accident. the firefighter and person in car were taken to the hospital. none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.

maureen? maureen: the man accused of hacking computers to help isis was in federal court in alexandria today. 22-year-old ardit ferizi a native of kosovo was arrested in malaysia last year. prosecutors say ferizi hacked personal information on hundreds of u.s. service members from the d.c. area. then gave that information to isis in order to target service members. he faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted. the u.s. is getting a boost in the war on terror. the dutch government has approved plans to join u.s.-led airstrikes against isis targets in syria. the announcement comes as the peace talks begin in geneva aimed to end syria five-year civil war. leon: still ahead at 6:00, the moment a dog pulled from a frozen lake reunited with the rescuers. maureen: a water main turns a busy roadway in a river. what went wrong and what it took to get the roads back

he was sentenced to probation at aim 16 for causing a drunk driving accident killed four people. today a judge ruled couch will remain at a juvenile detention center pending a hearing on whether his case should be transferred to adult court. leon: police officer killed in the line of duty is being remembered for the life-saving measures. montgomery county police and red cross teamed up for a blood drive in honor of officer noah leotta who was killed last month by a suspected drunk driving while conducting a d.u.i. trackdown operation. officer leotta's mother, sister and father were there. and they say the maryland drunk driving laws immediate to be stronger. >> they are out there every day playing russian roulette with all of our lives. we need to think about that. it can happen to anybody's family. leon: the leottas say any measure that stops someone from driving drunk honors their son's memory. the red cross collected 67 penalties of blood at the

leon: a st. bernard struggling through the ice. we learned his name is milo. today milo and his family got the meet heroes. the families were grateful to the firefighters that saved the beloved pet. maureen: stay off the ice, milo. >> they are going a final mop-up here. they had a gusher. this is a 2-inch valve. 24 inch pipe.
